Welcoming The Day

And every day I make it through the night and am welcomed by the day, I'll smile and thank God that I made it out okay. For the night is dangerous and knows all my secrets, and It sees my struggles when I'm open and most vulnerable. Remembering my weaknesses it saves them for another day to pounce when I'm down.

Three a.m. and I are well acquainted, neither of us liking the other, for she taunts me and tempts me and laughs in my face. When the night is heaviest and the silence is loudest I'll hear her whisper that she knows how to fix it. I deny her promises as I shake under my sheets but she never gets tired as I do, and then accepting is the only way to find peace
