Bask In This Light

In the midst of a field, where the Son beat down furiously and the heat of this Light was too much to deny, there sat a girl. This field was bursting with Light and Life! The trees swayed from the whisper of the wind and the grass and flowers soaked in the glory of the Son. Everything of life was rejoicing for the beauty and grace of this Light, but not her. She had knelt on her knees, folded her hands, bowed her head, clenched her eyes hours before, and she merely sat there. She was unmoving except for the trickle of sweat that dripped down her forehead from the heat of the Son. This Light was intense and paralyzed her, causing her to bask in its rays.

Why did she not rejoice as the others did? How could she sit there, unmoved by this display of love and affection? She wondered the same thing...

In her heart she was overflowing with gratitude for the Son's showering of Light and heat, and yet, she couldn't show this gratitude. The heat was too great for her to move. So she sat there, with a heavy heart.

The Light seemed to burn right through her chest and sear her heart. This fire brought attention to the clenching at heart she held. There was a pain she couldn't let loose. It was tied so tightly by so many different knots she didn't know where to even begin to untie them. So she clenched it tightly and protected it, nursing each hurt. This hurt ran deep, to the point where she couldn't even look at the beautiful Light she was surrounded with, but where had it begun? What specific thing needed to be dealt with? These questions remained unanswered, lingering in the air...

She longed to open her eyes, spread out in the heat, and enjoy it like the others could, but this heaviness of heart held her back. It was too much, she didn't know what opening her eyes to such beauty would do to her. The pain would surely intensify and she didn't know if she could risk such pain.
